OPTION PARACHUTE: http://brsparachutes.com/BRS+Products/
Cirrus Airframe Parachute System, or CAPS.
The system is a standard feature on all Cirrus airplanes, and the parachute used is the only one certified for certain types of rescue.
Cirrus is manufactured by St. Paul, Minn.-based Ballistic Recovery Systems.
CAPS consists of a canister on the aft bulkhead of the plane that contains the
parachute, which is connected to the airframe via Kevlar harnesses.
In an emergency, a solid-fuel rocket pulls the pressure-packed parachute out of
its housing. The design guarantees full deployment of the chute and its 48-ft.
tethers in a few seconds.
